On our walk you can immerse yourself in the rich historical past of the Jews of Kőszeg. You can get to know their significant role in the life of our city, the well-known and prominent personalities of Judaism, the prominent role in the economic life of Kőszeg and their religious life, but those also, who died in World War II. On May 11, 1944, Jewish men, women and children living in Kőszeg and the settlements around Kőszeg were locked in the ghetto on the Schey Fülöp street (now Zrínyi street) and from there on June 18, 1944, to the ghetto in Szombathely. They were deported to Auschwitz between 3 and 4 July 1944. Their cultural and intellectual life is the inspiration for the cultural and artistic life of Kőszeg, and their buildings and houses stand as eternal mementos.
