Kőszegről az Országos Kéktúra útvonalon juthatunk az Írottkő csúcsra. Az útvonal a Kőszegi-hegység jelentősebb látnivalóinak sorát érinti: Indulhatunk a Tourinform iroda elől, a Kálvária úton jutunk a Kálvária templomig, majd Szent Germain kereszt, Hétforrás, Óház-kilátó, Vöröskereszt, Stájer-házak, Hörmann-forrás, Írottkő-tanösvény, Írottkő kilátó. Az összes szintemelkedés kb. 830 méter. Útközben, forrásból több helyen van vízvételi lehetőség. Ha a vasútállomástól indulunk, akkor 16 km, kb 5 óra felfele az út. Egésznapos programnak ajánlott kirándulás.
